February Staff Standout

3.jpgHi, my name is Melissa Wallace. I have had the privilege of working here at the Mechanicville District Public Library since September 2003. I am a Senior Library Clerk. In addition to working at the circulation desk,  I  process all the new items that are purchased for the library and I deal with all the delinquent library accounts.

Although I am not a Mechanicville native, I have lived on “FrogIsland” for 18 years with my husband Bob and my 4 children. My daughter, Laura, was married this past October to Nicholas Marchese and now lives in Melrose. My son Michael is attending Hudson Valley Community College and he is a Loadmaster with the Air Force National Guard working out of the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia. He makes regular trips to Greenland and Antarctica every year. My daughter Elizabeth is currently attending Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, NY. My youngest is my son David. He is a sophomore at Oakwood Christian School in Lansingburgh. He was on the soccer team and is currently on the OCS basketball team. If you have purchased a candy bar at the library, you have been supporting his team. Thank You!

Outside of the library, I work in the office every morning at Oakwood Christian School doing attendance. I attend Temple Baptist Church in Halfmoon, where I teach the 3rd Grade Sunday School Class along with Connie Snyder. I love anything to do with the Civil War. My family takes regular trips to Gettysburg. We also camp up in the Adirondacks every summer.  We are avid hockey fans and are Albany River Rats season ticket holders.  Of course I LOVE to read! I bring a book with me everywhere I go. I am currently reading “Someday” by Karen Kingsbury. I love to read Historical Fiction and any Christian Fiction. I have a group of ladies that like to read the same kind of books I do (and they know who they are!), so I pass all the books I read along to them. My son and I listen to audio books on the way to school in the morning. We are currently listening to “Lord of the Rings-Two Towers”.   Stop in and see us soon!
