Friends of our Library

The Friends of the Library play an important role in the success of our Library:

Fundraising:

Our Friends raise funds for projects and acquisitions above and beyond the general Library budget. Our Friends are involved in the Annual City-Wide Garage Sale,  Bus Trips, Build a Buddy Events, Plant Swap, Community Bowling at Hometown Lanes, Downton Abbey Tea,  Books for Babies, Museum Passes for our community & more!

Each year the Friends do more and more for the Library, whether through hands-on help or in-kind support. They have made many contributions such as sponsoring our 50th Anniversary Celebration, Dedication in memory of Laura Fisher of a Smart TV and Xbox One for our Children’s area, Bike Racks, our Electronic Sign, many children’s programs and our Books For Babies Program.

Public Relations:

Each Friend is a walking advertisement for the Library, helping to spread the word about our programs and activities, and reinforcing our importance to the community.

How Can I Become a Friend?

The Friends meet on the last Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Library. You are welcome to attend one of these meetings to decide if you would like to devote your time and talents to the great cause! Bring a Friend with you!

How Much of My Time Will Be Involved?

That is entirely up to you. We know that everybody’s lives are busy, particularly if you have young children to care for. But even just an hour or two a month will go a long way toward helping your Library grow and offer more programs and services to the Mechanicville community!
